Nursing
As a nurse of 30 years, I can say that the Short Stay Unit at Rogue Valley Medical Center is one of my all time favorite places to work. I work with a cohesive group of intelligent nurses who are supportive of each other professionally and emotionally. Our primary care practice allows us to spend a lot of time with patients, giving them the attention they need, which in turn gives us job satisfaction. Our hospital is in the process of obtaining Magnet status, which provides ample opportunity for involvement in the decision making and taking the responsibility for the atmosphere of our work place.
-Sandra Bartell, Short Stay Unit at RVMC
I came to Three Rivers Community Hospital from a small town in the Midwest. The nurses at Three Rivers listened to me, supported me and made me a vital part of their team and became my family. I am a better nurse working with the quality of people I work with on a daily basis. That feeling of support is still strong five years later, and that is the reason I will continue to work at TRCH. I'm pretty lucky to be here.

Pharmacy
There are lots of opportunities for professional growth, if you take the initiative. Asante not only supports, but actually expects you to advance your knowledge and stay current in the latest developments. There really are higher expectations of our pharmacy than you would expect in most places. They are constantly raising our team standards so that we always provide the best care for our patients. Our new pharmacy is the largest, most spacious one that I've even been in. Pharmacists were actually able to drive the design of it so that there is improved workflow and greater efficiency.
-Jeff Carwithen, Pharmacist at RVMC
There is a great deal of variety in what the Outpatient Pharmacy does. It's not the typical retail function. We get calls from physician offices all the time asking questions about medications. You really get to use what you learned in school. You're not standing around counting pills all day.

Rehabilitation
It's a real family-focused atmosphere with the emphasis placed on patient care. It all starts with great management. I've worked at four other major hospitals and, as a contract employee, another six, and the management here is unmatched. I have a voice in decision-making and have the power to do something to change things. I am able to do what is best for the patient without the pressure to merely meet the "bottom line." I get job offers weekly. I just smile and say no. I really love it here.
-Jim Cloward, Physical Therapist
I really enjoy working for a company that allows me to focus on good patient care. It's not that Asante doesn't care about productivity, but the real focus is about doing what is right for the patient. We're involved in all kinds of therapy here—inpatient, outpatient, long term care, and even sports medicine. Because we work with a lot of other therapists, we are able to learn from and support each other. I've also been able to take advantage of Asante's commitment to management development. Now I have therapists who say to me, "I really appreciate that you did this for me." And it was because I learned it here.

Imaging
Asante really sets up its employees for success. I've never worked for a company that did so much. Everyone helps new people. We never let them feel like there's a question they can't ask. They really take care of their own. And Asante does everything they can to promote from within. To make that happen, there's a wide variety of educational and advancement opportunities, including leadership training. Through the open forums, you even have an opportunity to give your input to the president of the organization.
-Rhonda Varga, Vascular Recovery Coordinator
This is really a family oriented department. All of us feel that family comes first, so if someone needs time off for a special family event, we schedule to accommodate that. And there is so much to do with your family in this area—from cultural events like the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and the Britt Music Festival to outdoor interests like snow skiing and the coast. When you put these two pieces together—family/lifestyle offerings and the great work environment—you really have the perfect balance.

Lab
I came here from the east coast and I can't believe how friendly and helpful everybody is, not just in the lab, but also with nursing, the physicians, and others. At every other hospital I've worked, department meetings were for the managers to talk and the staff to listen. Here it's just the opposite. We're really listened to here.
-Joel Shepitka, Lab Technical Specialist at TRCH
We have always had great people who do the scheduling. I've heard so many horror stories about other places where people cannot get time off when they really need it. Our lab is terrific for working with us to accommodate our need for adaptable schedules and time off. For the last 10 years, work has been more fun than ever. We are always getting new instruments, remodeling, and things are changing constantly. I really appreciate that kind of environment. Retirement will just have to wait.
