Cancer Support Services

Cancer requires more than physical treatment. At Rogue Valley Medical Center, we offer a variety of resources for your emotional and lifestyle needs.

Social Work Services

Oncology social workers offer encouragement for patients and their families wishing to explore their feelings about cancer and its challenges. As your advocate, the social worker can also connect you with community resources.

Inpatient oncology social workers are available to cancer patients and their families at Rogue Valley Medical Center. For an appointment, please call 541-789-5836 weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. For outpatient oncology social workers, please call 541-789-4342.

Discharge Planning

Discharge coordinators help make the transition from a hospital stay to home. They can make arrangements for home care or hospice services, medical equipment, transportation or rehabilitation. They can also help you access financial resources and serve as your advocate with insurance companies and specialists so that your health care dollars are wisely accounted for.

Home Care and Hospice

When needed, our caregivers will come to your home to guide you through continued treatment or recovery. Nurses are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Physical therapists, speech therapists, clinical social workers and home health aides are also a part of your home care team. For those nearing the end of life, hospice caregivers work around the clock with dignity and compassion to care for patients and their families in the final days.

Support Groups

Often cancer patients find comfort in company. It helps to share with others who are experiencing similar feelings, and that's why we encourage you to connect with support groups in our community.

Please call 541-789-5836 for a current list of active support groups.
