Revolutionary Cancer Treatment at RVMC

TomoTherapy^®, the newest and most successful form of radiation therapy for certain cancers, is now available at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Produced by TomoTherapy, Inc., the TomoTherapy^® Hi-Art^® treatment system combines intensity-modulated radiation therapy-the most effective form of radiation therapy-with the image precision of a CT scan to guide radiation exactly to tumor areas. This minimizes damage to healthy tissue and may spare patients many of the difficult side effects of traditional radiation treatments.

Tomotherapy can be used to treat tumors in areas of the body that previously were difficult to treat with radiation therapy.  Patients with prostate, head and neck, or spinal cancers will have greatly improved chances for success thanks to this new radiation technology.

Currently, patients wishing to benefit from this powerful advance in cancer care must travel either to Salem or to the University of California at Davis, which are the two closest treatment sites.

Thanks to generous and ongoing community support through the Asante Foundation, this startlingly successful therapy is now coming to the Rogue Valley.
