RVMC Auxiliary Donates $50,000 to NICU Expansion
The Rogue Valley Medical Center Auxiliary presented the RVMC Foundation with a check for $50,000 on June 17, 2010 in support of the RVMC Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) expansion project.
"The NICU is truly honored to accept the generosity of the Auxiliary," said Michele Stickland, clinical manger, Children's Services. "Their support in dollars and time has contributed greatly to the success of our families and will continue to do so in the future. Thank you for being a member of our team!"
Karin Guy, director of Volunteer & Spiritual Care Services at Asante Health System, said the Auxiliary was, "Thrilled to be able to provide support of the NICU program," adding that it is part of the Auxiliary's mission to provide financial support to the hospital through fundraisers and sales at its gift shop in the hospital.
In the past two years, the RVMC Auxiliary gave $100,000 towards the purchase of the TomoTherapy machine and related software. This year, the RVMC Auxiliary has created another generous donation that will help the hospital expand capacity of its very busy NICU from 20 to 32 babies. "The Auxiliary continues its legacy to improve the lives of our patients and the community," Guy said.
RVMC has over 300 volunteers who gave over 50,000 hours of their time and talent in the past year. The volunteers provide an invaluable service every day at the hospital, and this generous donation underscores their continued dedication.
Though 300 volunteers may sound like a lot, it's not enough to accomplish all the important work the volunteers do, added Guy. "We are always in need of more volunteers," she said.
