Better Breathers Available in Grants Pass for People with Respiratory Ailments
People with pulmonary disease such as COPD can breathe better and improve lung health, especially if they participate in the Better Breathers Club, which is available in Grants Pass through a sponsorship by Three Rivers Community Hospital and The American Lung Association of Oregon.
The Better Breathers is free of charge and offers people an effective way to cope with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and other lung diseases and respiratory problems. Better Breathers provides education by healthcare professionals in a supportive atmosphere where people share in their struggles. It feels good to talk with others who understand, which has a positive impact on your health.
Better Breathers is facilitated by a respiratory therapist and meets regularly. There are educational presentations on a wide range of relevant topics including how COPD affects the lungs; breathing techniques; exercise; talking with your physician; medications and other treatment options; medical tests; supplemental oxygen; home health care; lung transplants; and air pollution. If you feel alone and isolated, these support groups can help.
Membership is open to any patients with chronic respiratory diseases. Others who may also like to attend include family, friends, caregivers, and anyone interested in better management of chronic respiratory diseases.
When: Second Wednesday of every month from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Conference Room A, Washington Campus–Three Rivers Community Hospital, 1505 N.W. Washington Blvd. (click to view map)
