Visitor Information

You can help provide a peaceful, comfortable and safe environment for our patients and their guests by following these visitor guidelines.

  • Visiting hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. or decided by each new mom. Please respect her wishes. If there is a sign on the door that says, "Do not disturb," check with a staff member before entering the room.
  • The Family Birth Center is a locked and secure area. Please check in at the front desk or nurses station each time you enter or leave. Please pick up the phone on the wall when the front desk is not attended, and one of our staff will assist you.
  • Please keep noise levels low.
  • All children under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult other than the new mom.
  • If you are asked to step out of the room during an exam or other procedure, please wait in the front waiting room and not in the hallways. Groups are asked to move to the lobby to give families privacy, quiet and respect.
  • Family members awaiting the birth of a baby by cesarean section are asked to wait in the entrance lobby or in the patient's room at the patient's request. A staff member will let you know when you may visit the new mom.
  • If you have more guests than seats in the birthing suite, please visit in small groups. The lobby area is available for larger family celebrations. Please leave the furniture and chairs in the lobby.
  • For confidentiality of all patients, please do not stand around the nursing station.
  • Please do not bring candles. Because they are a fire hazard, they are not allowed in the birthing suites.

For Your Convenience

  • There are phones for local and card calls as well as a pay phone in front of the Surgery department. Additional pay phones are available throughout the hospital as well.
  • Coffee, tea, water and a microwave oven are available for visitors in the Family Birth Center kitchenette. Snacks and other items are for patients only.
  • Other dining options include the hospital cafeteria on the first level, and vending machines near the Emergency room and the third floor.
  • Family and friends from out of town may call the hospital's toll-free number, 1-800-595-7851, and ask for the patient by name.

For Overnight Visitors

  • One adult is welcome to spend the night in the birthing suite.
