Hospitalists

More than 30 million people are admitted to the hospital every year in the United States. At Three Rivers Community Hospital, we know each patient has a unique health story, and it's our job to understand and help. That's why we devote special doctors to caring only for hospitalized patients. They're called hospitalists.

Medical Team

Throughout your hospital stay, you will meet many people - surgeons, nurses, lab techs, social workers and other team members. But the one person overseeing your entire plan of care is your hospitalist.

A hospitalist, also called an inpatient physician, is a medical doctor devoted to caring for patients in the hospital rather than in a clinic. The hospitalist is specially trained to understand the details of your health situation and to coordinate your care while you are staying in the hospital. Your hospitalist will also keep in close contact with your primary care doctor so that when you leave the hospital, your doctor can continue caring for you without missing a beat.

Hospitalists are on call around the clock. Depending on the length and needs of your stay, you may get to know more than one hospitalist as they provide care in shifts. All of our hospitalists work together, sharing information in confidence so that you receive continuous high quality care and attention.

More Information

Why do I need a hospitalist?

There are many advantages to Three Rivers Community Hospital's hospitalist program.

Keeping a close watch

Hospitalists are by your side in a moment's notice. A hospitalist is available to you 24 hours a day and can take the time to talk with you and your family about your questions or concerns.

Hospital experts

Because inpatient doctors work in the hospital, they are familiar with the staff and how the hospital works. They can communicate your needs with the right people at the right time, tying together every aspect of your hospital care.

Helping doctors and patients

Before hospitalists, doctors and specialists had to travel back and forth from their clinics to visit patients in the hospital. Hospitalists free up other doctors to care for patients in the office, reducing wait times and ensuring all patients receive the same quality of care you expect from your clinic.
