H1N1 FLU INFORMATION FOR THE COMMUNITY

Three Rivers Community Hospital is committed to its role of helping the community during the H1N1 influenza (swine flu) outbreak that is currently affecting the country. Our infection control physicians and specialists are working closely with state and local health departments in sharing information on any flu activity.

Three Rivers Community Hospital has worked with local emergency agencies and the community for several years to improve the health system's emergency and disaster preparedness, and we are well prepared for a rapid hospital response in the event of H1N1 infection in our area.

If you have any questions regarding the H1N1 flu, please visit www.flu.oregon.gov for flu updates and helpful information about symptoms and treatment.

If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, please call your physician or visit your nearest urgent care clinic. For more information on what to do if you have flu-like symptoms, go to http://cdc.gov/h1n1flu/sick.htm.

If you do come to the hospital with flu symptoms, please do the following:

  • Protect yourself and others
  • Hand sanitizer and surgical masks are available at all main entrances
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or cough, or sneeze into your elbow, not your hands
  • Place used tissue in the wastebasket
  • After coughing or sneezing, wash with soap and water or clean with alcohol-based hand cleaner
  • Keep in mind that you may be asked to put on a surgical mask to protect others

Please be advised that anti-viral medications such as Tamiflu require a doctor's prescription. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends its use for patients already at risk for complications due to age,  chronic illness, or immune deficiency, people who have been in contact with someone who has the H1N1 flu, or for those who are hospitalized.

Three Rivers Community Hospital is concerned for your health, so please follow these recommended precautions at http://www.flu.oregon.gov/DHS/ph/acd/flu/fluvax.shtml.
