Peter Angstadt

Peter Angstadt

President, Rogue Community College

Dr. Angstadt joined the Asante Board of Directors member in January 2015. His current term on the Board expires in December 2017, at which time he will be eligible for one additional three-year term to expire in December 2023.  Currently, Dr. Angstadt is serving as President for Rogue Community College since 2004.  Dr. Angstadt completed his doctorate in education policy and management from the University of Oregon in 2002.  Since making his home in Grants Pass in 2004, he has been active in the community. He is serving on the SOREDI Board and the Oregon 529 College Savings Network.

Dr. Alan Binette

OB/GYN Physician, Women’s Specialty Group

Dr. Binette joined the Asante Board of Directors in January 2008. His current term on the Board expires in December 2016.

Currently, Dr. Binette is an OB/GYN physician with Women’s Specialty Group in Medford, where he has been in private practice since 1985. Dr. Binette completed his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Chicago in 1981 and went on to complete his internship and medical residency training at the University of Chicago from 1981 to 1985.

Since making his home in Medford in 1985, Dr. Binette has been active in the community and in numerous professional affiliations. He has served as chair of the Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center Department of OB/GYN and co-chair of the Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center Women’s and Children’s Clinical Core Team.

Along with his service on the Asante Board of Directors, Dr. Binette currently serves as Board chair and a member of the following Board Committees; Executive Compensation Committee (vice chair), Governance/Board Affairs Committee (chair), and is chair of the Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center Quality Committee and the Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center Appointment Committee.

Ken Buccino, MD

Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, Chief of Staff (2014-2015)

Dr. Buccino joined the Asante Board of Directors as a nonvoting, ex officio member in January 2014.  As Chief of the Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center Medical Staff, Dr. Buccino serves a two-year term as an ex officio nonvoting director.  His two-year expires in December 2015. 

Currently, Dr. Buccino is an Emergency Department physician at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, where he has practiced since 1998.  Dr. Buccino received his undergraduate from Yale University, and his Medical Degree from Stanford University.  Dr. Buccino served his residency at Hennepin Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN.   

In addition to serving as director in the Asante Board of Directors and the Asante Ashland Community Hospital Board of Directors, he is also the Chief of Medical Staff at Rogue Regional Medical Center.


Gayle Byrne

President and CEO, Southern Oregon Goodwill Industries

Ms. Byrne joined the Asante Board of Directors in January 2007. Her current term on the Board expires in December 2015.

Currently, Ms. Byrne is the president and CEO of Southern Oregon Goodwill Industries, a position she has held since 1980. Prior to becoming president and CEO, Ms. Byrne also served as Southern Oregon Goodwill Industries’ Director of Rehabilitation.

Prior to moving to Southern Oregon in 1977, Ms. Byrne served as a counseling psychologist for the University of Hawaii at Manoa and was the pediatric mental health coordinator at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma, Washington.

She completed her Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology—Rehabilitation at the University of Oregon.

Ms. Byrne has a long history of service to our community and has served on numerous boards and committees in southern Oregon. Along with her service on the Asante Board of Directors, Ms. Byrne also serves as a member of the Governance/Board Affairs Committee, the Audit and Compliance Committee, and the Properties and Facilities Committee.

Ray Cox

Vice President-Branch Manager, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney

Mr. Cox joined the Asante Board of Directors in January 2012. His current term on the Board expires in December 2017, at which time he will be eligible for another three year term that expires in December 2020.

Currently, Mr. Cox is the vice president–branch manager/wealth advisor with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in Medford. He has a long history as a financial and wealth management advisor as well as an earlier career in auditing and corporate accounting. Mr. Cox completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting at Central Washington University.

Along with his service on the Asante Board of Directors, Mr. Cox also serves as Board Secretary and a member of the following Board committees; Audit and Compliance Committee, Finance Committee, and Investment Advisory Committee. He is also a board member of Southern Oregon Insurance, LLC.

Daniel Fear, MD

Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgeon, ENT Associates of Grants Pass

Dr. Fear joined the Asante Board of Directors as a nonvoting, ex officio member in January 2015. Dr. Fear serves for a two-year term as an ex officio nonvoting director. His two-year term expires in December 2016. Dr. Fear is an Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgeon at ENT Associates of Grants Pass since 1995. Dr. Fear completed his Residency at Tufts / Boston University, his Internship at Emanuel Hospital in Portland, and his M.D. at OHSU. Since Dr. Fear started private practice in Grants Pass, he has a long history of service to our community and has served on numerous boards and committees in southern Oregon. Along with his service on the Asante Board of Directors and being on Medical Staff for Asante Three Rivers Medical Center and Grants Pass Surgery Center, Dr. Fear is Chief of Staff at Asante Three Rivers as well as the Chair for the Asante Three Rivers Otolaryngology Department.

Anne Golden joined the Asante Board of Directors in August 2013. Her current term on the Board expires on December 31, 2015, at which time she will be eligible for another two terms expiring on December 31, 2021.

Ms. Golden is the owner of Anne Golden Associates. She is an Organizational Effectiveness Consultant and Coach. She has over twenty years experience as a Human Resource Executive, workshop leader, board member and author. Her experience includes working with publicly traded and privately held companies in Health Care, Insurance, High Technology and Manufacturing as well as a variety of non-profits encompassing philanthropic foundations, public schools and universities, social service and social change groups.

Along with her service on the Asante Board of Directors, she also served on the Asante Ashland Community Hospital Advisory Board / Quality Committee.

RD Jones

Ronald (R.D.) Jones, MD

Pediatrician, Kids Clinic

Dr. Jones joined the Asante Board of Directors in January 2011. His current term on the Board expires in December 2016, at which time he will be eligible for another three year term that expires in December 2019.

Currently, Dr. Jones is a pediatrician with Kids Clinic in Medford, where he has been in private practice since 1994. He was also in private practice in Truckee, California, from 1991 to 1994. Dr. Jones completed his Doctor of Medicine degree at Baylor College of Medicine in 1988 and his internship at Baylor affiliated hospitals. He completed his pediatric residency at the University of Arizona.

Since making his home in Medford in 1994, Dr. Jones has been active in numerous professional affiliations. He has served as Chief of the Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center Medical Staff, Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center Medical Executive Committee, and chair of the Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center Pediatric Department. Along with his service on the Asante Board of Directors, Dr. Jones also serves as a member of the Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center Quality Committee, the Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center Appointment Committee and the Audit and Compliance Committee.

Tom McGilloway

Retired Manager, Avery Dennison

Mr. McGilloway joined the Asante Board of Directors in March 2009. His current term on the Board expires in December 2017.

In 2009, Mr. McGilloway retired from his position as manager of distribution/logistics at Avery Dennison, a position he held from 1988 to 2009. Prior to his position at Avery Dennison, Mr. McGilloway was a senior consulting manager for Deloitte and Touche from 1982 to 1988. Mr. McGilloway completed his Master of Business Administration degree at the University of Laverne. He is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt, a certified quality manager, and a licensed private investigator.

Mr. McGilloway has a long history of community service and served on numerous boards and committees in southern California, where he resided for many years prior to retiring and moving to southern Oregon in 2009. Along with his service on the Asante Board of Directors, Mr. McGilloway also serves as Board Treasurer and a member of the following Board committees: Executive Compensation, Finance, Properties and Facilities, Asante Three Rivers Medical Center Quality Committee, and Asante Three Rivers Medical Center Appointment Committee.

Stephen Roe

Mr. Roe most recently joined the Asante Board of Directors in January 2013. His current term on the Board expires in December 31, 2015, at which time he will be eligible for one additional three-year term to expire in December 2018. Mr. Roe also served on the Asante Board of Directors from 2000 to 2005.

Mr. Roe is the General Manager at Roe Motors since 1983. He has a long history of community service and has served on numerous community boards and committees.

Along with his service on the Asante Board of Directors, Mr. Roe is also serving as a member on the following Board committees: Finance Committee, Governance/Board Affairs, Asante Three Rivers Medical Center Quality Committee and Asante Three Rivers Medical Center Appointment Committee.

Douglass Schmor

Mr. Schmor is an attorney and partner with Brophy Schmor LLP, where he specializes in business law, business organizations, real estate, and estate planning. Mr. Schmor was born in Klamath Falls, Oregon, completed his Bachelor of Arts degree at Willamette University in 1973, and earned his Juris Doctor degree at Harvard Law School in 1976. He has a long history of service to our community and has served on numerous boards and committees in Southern Oregon. He is currently serving as Chair of the Pacific Retirement Services Board of Directors, Board Member of the Anna May Family Foundation, and is Past Chair of the Asante Foundation.

Bill Steinsiek, MD

Dr. Steinsiek joined the Asante Board of Directors as a nonvoting, ex officio member in January 2014.  As Chief of the Asante Ashland Community Hospital Medical Staff, Dr. Steinsiek serves a two-year term as an ex officio nonvoting director.  His two-year expires in December 2015. 

Currently, Dr. Steinsiek is an Anesthesiologist at Ashland Anesthesia Associates in Ashland, where he has practiced since 2003.  Dr. Steinsiek received his undergraduate and Master’s degree from the University of Arkansas and his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Dr. Steinsiek served his residencies at FT. Smith, Arkansas (UAMS/AHEC) in Family Medicine and Little Rock, Arkansas (UAMS) in Anesthesiology.

In addition to serving as director in the Asante Board of Directors and the Asante Ashland Community Hospital Board of Directors, he is also the Chief of Medical Staff at Asante Ashland Community Hospital.

Thomas Turek, MD

Retired Family Practice Physician and Associate Medical Director, AllCare

Dr. Turek joined the Asante Board of Directors in January 2013. His current term on the Board expires in December 2015, at which time he will be eligible for one additional three-year term to expire in December 2021.

Currently, Dr. Turek is the Associate Medical Director at AllCare Health Plan. He was Vice President of Medical Affairs for Three Rivers Medical Center from 2006 to 2010. Dr. Turek had a private practice from 1975 to 1999 and then again from 2005 to 2010. He was Medical Director for the Oregon Medical Assistance and Oregon Health Plan from 2001 to 2006, Community Corrections from 1997 to 2000, for MidRogue IPA from 1994 to 2000 and for the Royale Gardens Rehabilitation Center from 1975 to 1999.

Dr. Turek has a long history of serving in numerous boards, and is still very active in civic groups which currently help out Josephine and Jackson County. Dr. Turek also serves on our Audit and Compliance Committee as well as Three Rivers Medical Center Quality / Appointment Committee. He currently resides in Grants Pass and has been there for two decades.

Roy Vinyard, President and CEO of Asante

Roy joined Asante in June 1999 from his previous position of Chief Administrative Officer, Hospitals and Clinics, Oregon Health and Science University. Mr. Vinyard also previously served as Associate Administrator of the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kansas. Mr. Vinyard received his Masters Degree in Health Administration from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri, and completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy at St. Louis College of Pharmacy, St. Louis, Missouri. As President and CEO, Mr. Vinyard is responsible for all operations of Asante.

Patricia Wintemute

Co-owner, Pitchfork Ranch

Ms. Wintemute joined the Asante Board of Directors as a nonvoting, ex-officio member in January 2015. She serves a two-year term as an ex-officio nonvoting director. Her two-year term expires in December 2016. Ms. Wintemute was a Financial Analyst in Southern California prior to relocating to the Rogue Valley in 1995. She is co-owner of Pitchfork Ranch in Eagle Point, an operating cattle ranch. She is also a founding member of the Wintemute Family Foundation. Ms. Wintemute joined the Asante Foundation Board in 2011 and has served as Treasurer and Vice-Chair. She was the Foundation representative on the Finance Committee of the Asante Board 2012-2014. Ms. Wintemute is presently serving a two-year term as Asante Foundation Board Chair, and is a member of the Audit and Compliance Committee for the Asante Board.

Jim Wright

Mr. Wright most recently joined the Asante Board of Directors in January 2008. His current term on the Board expires in December 2016.

Mr. Wright also served on the Asante Board of Directors from 1995 to 2003 and was Board Chair from 2001 to 2003.

Mr. Wright is past president of LTM Corporation. He has a long history of community service and has served on numerous community boards and committees. Along with his service on the Asante Board of Directors, Mr. Wright also serves as a member of the following Board committees; Finance, Investment Advisory (Chair), and Properties and Facilities (Vice Chair).
