American Heart Association Recognizes Asante as a Fit-Friendly Worksite

The American Heart Association has often recognized Asante hospitals for outstanding heart care, but now the association has also recognized Asante as a heart-healthy place to work with the Fit-Friendly Worksite Gold Award (2012).

According to the AHA, Asante is a Fit-Friendly worksite because it has a wellness environment for its employees. Some examples are the annual biometric screenings and fitness challenges. Asante is the exclusive sponsor of the Pear Blossom Heart+Sole 5-K run, and employees are preparing for the race, which is open to the public. To learn more, visit

Gold-level recognition is for companies that fulfill criteria such as offering employees physical activity support, increasing healthy eating options at work, promoting a wellness culture, as well as implementing at least six of the physical activities, two of the nutrition activities and one of the culture activities listed in the application form.

As a gold level recipient, Asante is in great company, including Kaiser Permanente Northwest, Samaritan Health Services, Solar World Industries America, Inc., Women’s Healthcare Associates, LLC, and the University of Portland.
