Asante Welcomes Its First Babies of 2013

With the New Year comes new life and new joy. Amineh Erickson, the first baby born at Asante in 2013, greeted the world at 2:43 p.m. on January 1, 2013. A baby girl weighing 7 pounds and 13 ounces, Amineh was born at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center to Christina (Nina) Boneta and Jonathan Erickson of Grants Pass, Oregon. She was the first baby born in Josephine County in 2013. Little Amineh was delivered by Marlene Covey, MD, a physician with the Women's Health Center of Southern Oregon.
"It is always exciting to be part of bringing a new life into the world," said Linda Torres, director of women's services at Asante Three Rivers. "But on New Year's Day it is a special honor. Congratulation to mom and the family."
The hospital auxiliary presented the family with a gift basket and the Asante Three Rivers Family Birth Center staff gave the happy couple a gift card to Wild River Brewing and Pizza.
The Family Birth Center at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center delivered 745 babies in 2012. It is recognized by the World Health Organization as a "Baby Friendly" hospital, and it is a regional leader in educating mothers about the health benefits of breast feeding their babies.

Jaylin Ortega was the first baby of 2013 at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, Oregon. Born to a joyful Michelle Ortega of Medford, Jaylin greeted the world at 9:47 p.m. on January 1, 2013, she weighed 7 pounds and 8 ounces and measured 20 inches.
Jaylin was delivered by Daniel A. Tomlinson, MD, of Medford Women’s Clinic.
“It is always an honor for us to help bring a new life into the world,” said Teresa Pierce, clinical manager of women’s services at Asante Rogue Regional. “And on New Year’s Day it is especially rewarding. Congratulations to Michelle and Jaylin.”
The hospital auxiliary presented the mother and baby and with a gift basket that included goodies, a knit receiving blanket, and a handmade Christmas stocking with the year 2013 on it. The stocking was made by the auxiliary sewing committee.
The staff of the Family Birth Center also gave mom and baby a basket of treats to celebrate their special New Year’s day.
The Family Birth Center at Asante Rogue Regional delivered 1519 babies in 2012. A regional leader in infant and neonatal care, Asante Rogue Regional has joined with the March of Dimes “Hard Stop” program to significantly reduce the number of early deliveries.
