Description

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is a course developed by the American Heart Association for the training of health care providers. It emphasizes the knowledge and skills necessary to provide the appropriate early treatment for cardiopulmonary arrest. Additional important areas of emphasis include the proper management of situations likely to lead to cardiac arrest and the stabilization of the patient in the early period following a successful resuscitation. ACLS includes, the use of adjunctive equipment and special techniques for establishing and maintaining effective ventilation and circulation. In addition, this program teaches how to treat the patient with suspected acute myocardial infarction and stroke.

Upon successful completion, participants will be granted an ACLS provider card through the American Heart Association. Provider status is valid for two years, and a renewal course is required to remain an ACLS provider.
