Biography
R. Scott Nelson, DO, provides specialized care for patients with digestive disorders and colorectal concerns. He is board-certified in both general and colorectal surgery.
Dr. Nelson is earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri. He completed his residency in general surgery at Marshfield Clinic/St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin, where he served as chief surgical resident. He also completed a clinical residency and research fellowship in colon and rectal surgery with Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.
Dr. Nelson has a special interest in cancer prevention and early detection through colon and rectal cancer screening. From his extensive research in treating digestive disorders including diverticulitis, gallbladder conditions, and colorectal polyps, Dr. Nelson delivers knowledgeable and compassionate care to patients affected by these and other related issues.
In his free time, he enjoys basketball, running, studying American history, and watching documentaries. He and his wife Marielle are proud parents of seven young children.
