Biography

Marguerite Davis Wilkins, MD, HMDC, came to the Rogue Valley in 2008 as the area’s first board-certified and fellowship-trained palliative medicine physician. She was the founding medical director of the Inpatient Palliative Care Service at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center. Before that, she spent two years providing inpatient palliative medicine consultations at all three valley hospitals.

In 2012, Dr. Wilkins left inpatient work to spend more time with her children. She continues to work as medical director for Ashland's high-quality home health, hospice and palliative care service, where she and an interdisciplinary team care for children and adults with serious illnesses.

Dr. Wilkins earned her medical degree at University of Washington Medical Center and completed a residency in internal medicine at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle. She completed a fellowship in palliative medicine at Oregon Health & Science University and Portland VA Medical Center.

She is married to Matt Oliva, MD, a local corneal specialist.  She is a closet poet/writer who loves spending time in the wilderness with her family.
