Outgoing, friendly and engaging, Dr Epstein's steady discipline in surgery is appreciated by his patients.
Growing up in Texas the son of a general surgeon, Bill was already a scrub-tech in the operating room at age 16. His plan was to follow in his father's footsteps until medical school introduced him to the wonders of the eye.
Dr Epstein received a degree in biology from the University of Texas where he was elected Phi Beta Kappa. He then obtained a master's degree in molecular biology at the University of Michigan. Dr Epstein enrolled at the University of Texas Medical Branch where he graduated with high honors. After a year-long internship in Internal Medicine, he completed his Ophthalmology Residency at Stanford University Medical Center learning from what Dr Epstein refers to as the best minds in the business.

Dr Epstein is highly trained and experienced in the latest ophthalmic procedures. He is a master in folding lens surgery and was the first ophthalmic surgeon to use this procedure in the Valley.
In supporting world-wide humanitarian endeavors, Dr Epstein has traveled the world as a medical volunteer performing hundreds of cataract surgeries in remote villages of third world countries.
Dr Epstein enjoys hiking, snow skiing and camping with his family. He and his wife Sarah were awarded the Oregon Tree Farmer of the Year Award for their progressive forestry practice. Dr Epstein also enjoys literature and the arts, especially the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon where their daughter plays violin in the orchestra. Two grown sons live on the west coast.
