Let Us Give You A Helping Hand
with Our Support Services
There’s a lot more to a cancer diagnosis than simply getting the right type of medical treatment. At Asante we take a holistic approach to cancer care, recognizing that a cancer diagnosis can cause stress and anxiety in you and your family. Before you begin medical treatment, we give you an opportunity to meet with a social worker, who can help you find the right services and resources to sustain you physically, mentally, and emotionally on your path to treatment and recovery. If you have a hospital stay, we help coordinate discharge planning and any home-care needs you may have.
Oncology Social Workers
Oncology social workers offer encouragement to patients and families wishing to explore their feelings about cancer and its challenges. As your advocate, the social worker can also connect you with community resources.
Inpatient oncology social workers are available to cancer patients and their families at Asante. For an appointment, please call (541) 789-5836 weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
For outpatient oncology social workers, please call (541) 789-4342.
There are many ways that we can help:
- Counseling to help with emotional and physical stress
- Referrals to education and support groups
- Practical assistance in identifying community resources for transportation, housing during treatment, and home health services
We look forward to meeting you and your family to help with any areas of distress. Together we can find solutions that best meet your needs.
Discharge coordinators help ease the transition from hospital to home. They can make arrangements for home care or hospice services, medical equipment, transportation, or rehabilitation. They can also help you access financial resources and serve as your advocate with insurance companies and specialists so that your healthcare dollars are accounted for wisely.
Home Care and Hospice
Our comprehensive approach to cancer care doesn’t stop when you leave the hospital. We also have incredible resources for people who need home care and hospice care. Physical therapists, speech therapists, oncology social workers, and home health aides may be part of your home care team. For patients nearing the end of life, hospice caregivers work around-the-clock with dignity and compassion to care for patients and their families in the final days. Learn more about Asante Hospice
