Inpatient Rehab Center
Rehabilitation can often be a complex process, requiring a 12-14 day average length of stay. The need for more inpatient rehabilitation services in our community will only increase over the coming years.
That's why the 6th floor of Rogue Valley Medical Center's Tower now houses an Inpatient Rehabilitation Center. The
rehab team is led by a physician with expertise in rehabilitation
medicine, and includes physical and occupational therapists,
rehabilitation nurses, neuropsychologists, social workers, and
speech-language pathologists. The new unit has 13 rehab beds, with 8 acute care beds in the adjacent neuroscience/stroke unit.
People
with stroke, brain, or spinal cord injuries, as well as patients who
have had orthopedic surgery, often need to relearn simple tasks of
daily living such as speaking, walking, eating, and dressing.
There is
a simulated apartment-like living space with a kitchen, laundry, and
many of the accouterments of home, the well-equipped treatment spaces
are close to patient rooms.
The
families of patients often establish important, trusting relationships
with personnel at Rogue Valley Medical Center, as well as a familiarity
with the facility where their loved ones are being treated. With
the opening of the IP Rehab unit in August of 2007, these relationships
and continuity of care can now be maintained for most patients and
families, as they will no longer need to go to another facility when
they for are ready for inpatient rehabilitation services.
The Asante Foundation strives to bring this and other important services to the region. Please join us! Call Laura Rothboeck at 541-789-5087 for more information.
