About this provider

Dr. Sager is committed to providing thorough and compassionate care to patients of all ages. After a childhood overseas in Pakistan, he moved with his family to Ashland in 1973 and is a graduate of Ashland High School. He returned to Ashland with his wife and two kids in 1998 after working with the Indian Health Service in Ketchikan, Alaska.

He was in private practice for 15 years before joining Asante Physician Partners in 2015. Outside the office he enjoys trail running, mountaineering, travel, and time with family and friends. Recently Dr. Sager has been committed to treating Syrian refugees in the Middle East.

My husband had a [ ] and I called Alex, Dr. Sager's nurse, to explain the sitch. She talked to Dr. Sager and they managed to see my husband, [ ], late on a Friday, almost immediately. They (Sager & Alex) took care of the medical emergency in a way that addressed the problem, gave him a Rx and we both left feeling better. I might add that any other doctor probably would have told my husband to go to the emergency room and not seen him at all. But, that is the kind of doctor that Dr. Sager is and his nurse Alex is equally caring and kind. I know that Dr. Sager is going to retire one day and I will be like everyone else, thrown in with a doc or NP or PA that doesn't know me or care about my health in the same way that Dr. Sager has for the past 20 years. He is an outstanding man and an excellent doctor and I cherish every day that I can still call myself his patient. He is a noble man.

I have complete confidence in Dr John Sager due to his communication skills and effort to discuss my health in general. He followed up on both tests that I had done within 24 hours via MyChart and set up referral appointments as per our discussions during my check up visit. I am embarrassed that I do not remember the name of the front office person and I believe the Medical Attendant's name is Alex. Both were friendly, welcoming, and professional.

Of course Dr Sagar is an excellent and caring doctor Who is attentive to the patient’s needs and thorough. Medical assistant, Alexandra. [ ] Has gone over and above in her job duties with a great work ethic and care for the patient. Alexandra always contacts patient the same day with care.and if she doesn’t have the answer, she will definitely make sure she contacts you generally in the same day to get you an answer or an appointment. Alexandra is an exceptional employee, as well as all of the employees that I’ve met through Dr. Sager‘s office.

Dr. John Sager is a wonderful physician. He has been my doctor for over 20 yrs and I feel I am in excellent health because of his care and concern. He is extraordinary and I don't what I will ever do if he retires. I listen to my friends and family who NEVER see an MD and have no relationship with their doctor, IF they have one. I am blessed and lucky to have good insurance and John Sager, not in that order. He is up to breast on all medical issues and knows so much. There is never a question he cannot answer and his MA, Alex, is a jewel too. In this age of impersonal medicine and constant shifting of providers, my husband and I feel like we are receiving care from years ago. John Sager is a jewel and Asante should never ever let him go. He is an asset to asante as is Alex, his MA. I cannot praise John Sager any higher, he is THE BEST!!!!

The entire staff in the oncology and oncology/radiology departments from registration to treatment is absolutely outstanding! In particular, Alicia the technician in [ ]; Dr. Sager with immediate referral to Nancy [ ] my surgeon, also outstanding; Dania in radiology who went above and beyond to have me scheduled for radiology/oncology before ATRIO would be continued by ASANTE, Dr. [ ] who provided necessary and detailed information around diagnosis, treatment and prognosis in a caring and concerning manner, and Alec [ ] who provided care and comfort during [ ], paying special attention to my previous [ ]. Overall, the warmth and comfort shown by these 2 departments made my [ ] a comfortable experience. In addition, the Heimann Cancer Center provides a relaxing and uplifting atmosphere.
