Getting back to your life: Cardiac rehabilitation
At Asante the prevention of cardiovascular disease is an important part of our service to our community. Diagnosing and treating a cardiac condition are only the first steps to full recovery for heart patients. Multiple studies have shown that participation in a cardiac rehabilitation program is one of the most effective ways to return to a full and active life.
Asante offers cardiac rehabilitation programs at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center and Asante Three Rivers Medical Center, both of which are certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. These programs are directed by cardiologists and staffed by multidisciplinary teams. Unique exercise prescriptions are developed for each participant and include both monitored exercise and extensive education.
These programs also provide educational information for patients and their families on topics that include diet, exercise, medications, cardiac physiology and stress reduction.
Mended Hearts is a national volunteer organization with 220 chapters. Each chapter includes people with heart disease, their spouses, family members, medical professionals and other interested individuals. The objectives of Mended Hearts are to offer encouragement and support to patients and their families through visits, information distribution, and social and educational programs. Mended Hearts also supports and assists community healthcare organizations and research activities pertaining to heart disease. The local Mended Hearts chapter meets monthly.
