DNV-designated Primary Stroke Center Plus
Rogue Regional is the only Det Norske Veritas certified Primary Stroke Center Plus certified to perform advanced stroke treatments — such as thrombectomy — in Southern Oregon.
Rogue Regional earned PSC+ certification from DNV, a hospital accreditation organization with some of the highest standards in health care. The certification means that Rogue Regional’s stroke response team follows the best practices to fast-track patients suspected of stroke so that doctors can begin brain-saving treatments immediately.
Stroke patients at Rogue Regional receive skillful care from a team of emergency medicine physicians, neurologists, interventional radiologists, hospitalists, intensivists, pharmacists, nurses, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, speech/language pathologists, and other clinicians specializing in neurology and emergency medicine. This highly trained team cares for the patient from the first critical minutes in the Emergency Department through weeks of rehabilitation in the hospital and several months of outpatient care. Rogue Regional also partners with local EMS agencies to ensure quick stroke symptom identification in the field.
Research has shown that stroke patients treated at certified stroke centers have better outcomes than patients treated at non-certified stroke centers. This is because thrombectomy-capable stroke centers like Rogue Regional use evidence-based methods to guide the treatment of stroke patients and have the capability to perform advanced stroke treatments so patients can be treated closer to home.
