Childbirth education programs in Ashland
Free online birth classes and resources
We now offer online classes that cover basic childbirth education and how to protect yourself and baby from COVID-19. The curriculum covers how to have a healthy pregnancy, prepare for childbirth, care for a newborn, and recover from labor. Our online classes are self-paced and consist of instructor-led YouTube videos with supplemental materials. We encourage all expectant mothers who are considering Asante Ashland Community Hospital to take these classes to prepare for their birthing experience with us.
In-person classes and resources (canceled until further notice)
All classes are held at Asante Ashland Community Hospital. Wear comfortable clothing; and for the basic series and the intensives, bring a pillow. These classes are packed with information for expectant parents, so please make other arrangements for your older children.
Basic five-week series
Topics include exercises, the stages of labor, creating a birth plan, breathing and relaxation techniques, natural coping strategies, what happens after the baby is born, and a tour of our Birth Center. We recommend taking this class in your seventh month.
Specialized pregnancy and childbirth intensives
Our childbirth education intensives are offered as stand-alone classes. We recommend taking these classes along with the basic five-week series. Classes are $10 each. If taken with the basic series, we offer a discount of $85 for the whole package.
